Lagavulin 16 Bottling Note

A classic Scotch whisky, Lagavulin's 16 year old is a benchmark malt from Islay's south coast. This is perhaps more smoky than peaty, and has a wonderful flavour that pertains to Lapsang Souchong tea…

Tasting Note by The Whisky Club

Nose: Bonfire smoke, hints of sticking plaster, butterscotch and sherried peels. Custard apples develop.

Palate: Thick, full-bodied palate with Oloroso melding well with huge smoke notes, supple peat and toasty oak.

Finish: A long finish - imagine sticky toffee pudding mixed with smoke!

Overall: Fabulous and very, very smoky, Lagavulin 16 year old is a true fireside dram for the colder months!

User Reviews of the Lagavulin 16 Year Old

God of all Malts...

If I ever have the money to buy up hunners of bottles of this beautiful gem; I would do so for one reason only. The first dram(s) from the neck of the bottle on freshly opening; are by far the best. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with the rest of the bottle; though over the years I have ALWAYS loved the 'first out' of this jewel that is pure heaven on earth... In The Grill, Aberdeen, Barbados by the pool, Singapore CBD, or Harrogate, Yorkshire believe it or not. I have had the 25yo cask strength version which would wake the dead, and many other variations from the famous whisky stop at Tyndrum, West Highland Way - The green welly stop: and loved every bottle whatever the cost. But if I did have to for whatever reason, have only one bottle of choice on the shelf: it would surely be the 16yo Lagavulin. Nothing, even comes close to this masterpiece. This is my view. JOSEPH

Whisky made by the Scottish Gods. If you have not had this, boy are you missing something.

This was the one that first made me enjoy whisky. Wonderfully strong smoky flavour with a great finish. It was a sad moment when the bottle ran dry.
