Island Whisky

Technically a part of the Highlands region, the Islands are often recognised as a separate entity due to their very different style. Though, of course, even within the Islands there exists a great deal of variation: for oily, smoky whiskies, head for the Isle of Jura; for peaty, peppery malts, look for Talisker on the Isle of Skye; for soft, slightly minty, sweet whiskies, Mull’s Tobermory will certainly suit; for malty, coastal whiskies, Arran is a good bet; and for rich, heather honey-like single malts, Orkney’s two distilleries – Highland Park and Scapa – are sure to satisfy.
