Campbeltown was once Scotland’s most prolific region, boasting around 28 different distilleries despite being the smallest region in the country. After an industry recession and US Prohibition, there are now just three distilleries: Springbank, Glen Scotia, and the recently founded Mitchell’s Glengyle. Whiskies from Campbeltown are usually quite oily and coastal, and some of the aged variants are really rather special.
