The Dufftown distillery was founded in 1895 by a group of men including John Symon, Peter Mackenzie, Richard Stackpole and Charles MacPherson. A year later, the stills began to produce spirit . The area around the distillery is very beautiful, and it lies not far from the town of the same name in the very heart of Speyside. In 1933, Arthur Bell and Sons acquired Dufftown for £56,000, and after various mergers, the company is now owned by Diageo. Today, Dufftown produces around 4.21 million litres per year, and about 98% of this is used to make blended whisky, including the famous blends Bell's, Dewar's and Johnnie Walker.
